In the production of lithium battery materials, the sieving process of cathode and anode powder raw materials imposes stringent requirements on the contact surfaces of equipment. Powders move back and forth on the surface of sieve meshes and sieve frames. Long-term friction will wear the metal substrate, and worn debris mixed into materials will compromise powder purity. Some electrolytes, additives and other media are corrosive. Contact with metal surfaces will cause rusting and shorten the service life of equipment. After ECTFE coating is applied to lithium battery vibrating sieves, a dense anti-corrosion coating forms on the equipment surface to provide protection for the powder sieving process.

The ECTFE coating is mainly composed of ethylene-chlorotrifluoroethylene copolymer. It adheres to the metal surface of the vibrating sieve through spraying, baking and curing processes. The coating bonds firmly to the substrate and delivers resistance to chemical corrosion against acid and alkali media. Its dense surface prevents powder particles from embedding into the substrate and reduces material residue during sieving. The coating offers moderate wear resistance to withstand long-term powder friction and keep the equipment surface in stable condition. The coating is applied evenly and can be sprayed onto sieve frames, sieve bodies and other components, suitable for vibrating sieves of various configurations.

For the sieving of lithium battery cathode materials, fine powder particles such as lithium iron phosphate and ternary materials require high cleanliness of sieving equipment. The ECTFE coating isolates the metal substrate from powder contact, lowering the risk of metal debris mixing into materials and helping guarantee powder purity. During continuous production in material workshops, the coating reduces powder caking and adhesion on sieve surfaces while maintaining sieving efficiency, supporting mass material production.

In the processing of anode materials, graphite-based powders are relatively hard and cause significant wear on sieve meshes and sieve frames. After ECTFE spraying, the coating forms a barrier layer between powder and metal to buffer direct abrasion of the metal surface by powder and reduce wear on structures around the sieve mesh. The coating has a low friction coefficient for smooth powder flow, reducing mesh clogging, increasing the processing capacity per batch, and matching the continuous operation rhythm of anode material production lines.

In the production of auxiliary materials such as electrolyte additives and conductive agents, some raw materials contain corrosive media that tend to form corrosion spots on ordinary metal equipment. The ECTFE coating resists erosion from such media, preserves the equipment surface, and prevents corrosion by-products from contaminating materials. After curing, the coating features stable adhesion and does not easily peel off after repeated equipment cleaning, accommodating workshop schedules for alternating production of multiple raw material grades.

Beyond lithium battery materials, this surface treatment can also be applied to other new energy powder equipment. Vibrating sieves in production workshops for photovoltaic materials, magnetic materials and chemical powders share the same processing requirements for corrosion prevention and contamination control. ECTFE-coated equipment surfaces are easy to clean. When switching powder grades, the cleaning procedure is simplified to mitigate cross-contamination between different batches, suiting production arrangements for multi-variety powder processing plants.

The spraying process follows a mature surface treatment workflow with standardized operations covering substrate pretreatment, spraying application and curing inspection. Substrate sandblasting and degreasing enhance coating adhesion. Coating thickness is controlled during spraying, and the curing phase ensures stable coating performance. Custom spraying solutions are available according to equipment structure and dimensions to meet processing requirements for vibrating sieves of different specifications. It is convenient for equipment to be returned to the factory for re-spraying. Used equipment can be recoated to restore protective performance and extend service life, catering to equipment protection demands of lithium battery material manufacturers of all sizes.
