During chemical production, various acid, alkali and corrosive materials continuously contact the inner walls of tanks, reactors and pipelines. Ordinary metal substrates suffer surface erosion after long-term exposure to corrosive media, shortening equipment service life. As an industrial anti-corrosion lining material, tightly lined PTFE sheets can be laid on the inner walls of various metal vessels to form a barrier coating that prevents corrosive media from directly contacting the base metal. Our company provides two anti-corrosion services: tightly lined PTFE sheet lining installation and PTFE coating. We select either sheet lining or coating technology according to customers’ operating conditions to build inner protective layers for chemical vessels, storage tanks and reaction equipment.
Tightly lined PTFE sheets adhere to equipment substrates via tight lining technology. The sheets fit closely against tank walls to minimize the risk of media penetrating into gaps between sheets and the base material. PTFE sheets feature outstanding chemical inertness. They resist swelling or decomposition when exposed to most strong acids, strong alkalis and strongly oxidizing substances, maintaining stable performance in scenarios for storage and reaction of various corrosive media. The sheet surface has a low friction coefficient, so materials are less prone to adhesion and accumulation. This reduces scaling on tank inner walls and cuts down equipment cleaning frequency.
The sheets offer stable temperature resistance and accommodate thermal expansion and contraction caused by temperature fluctuations within the working range. Combined with tight lining fixing structures, they mitigate sheet displacement and delamination triggered by temperature changes. The sheets do not release harmful substances and will not contaminate internal materials, making them suitable for chemical and pharmaceutical raw material production where product purity is required. Flexible cutting allows hole opening and shaping according to tank cavity geometry and nozzle positions, supporting lining application on irregular areas such as tank heads, cylinders and pipe openings.
The installation process of tightly lined PTFE sheet lining includes substrate pretreatment, sheet cutting, bonding and fixing, seam treatment and other steps. Substrate surfaces are first sanded and cleaned to remove rust and oil contamination to prepare for sheet adhesion. Special seam treatment is applied at sheet joints to seal gaps and block penetration paths for media. After full construction, inspection is carried out to check for gaps, bubbles and other defects in the lining and ensure good lining quality.
At the project selection stage, tightly lined PTFE sheet lining and PTFE coating serve as alternative solutions. Sheet lining is suitable for large-area tanks, long-term severe corrosion environments and applications requiring relatively thick protective layers. PTFE coating works better for small components, complex structures and parts with numerous narrow corners. Our team recommends suitable anti-corrosion solutions based on media type, temperature conditions and equipment structure, and delivers construction for both technologies.
After lining formation, routine maintenance is simple. If local damage occurs, targeted partial repair can be performed without removing the entire lining, which reduces equipment downtime. The sheets have good aging resistance and maintain isolation protection for a long time under stable working conditions, lowering costs from equipment replacement and repeated anti-corrosion construction.
Tightly lined PTFE sheets are applicable to various chemical equipment including acid storage tanks, reactors, neutralization tanks and pickling tanks, and can also be used for pipeline lining projects.
